WAMfest Launch Party - Big Mama Funk and the Ukelele Ladies

The Ukelele Ladies - a brand new ensemble, specially formed for WAMfest, will greet you when you arrive. 

 

Big Mama Funk will raise the roof of the Two Sisters Arts Centre to celebrate the launch of WAMfest, with a soulful mix of gospel,  funk and R and B  to get you  dancing and even singing along to all your favourites including Aretha Franklin, and many others.  'My absolute favourite thing to do is make your event unforgettable!  I'll guarantee to provide you with classics like Aretha’s “Respect”, Luther’s “Never Too Much”, Michael’s “Rock with You”,  Bruno’s “Uptown Funk” and more!'

Light snacks and a wine, beer or soft drink is included to start off our celebration of women's creativity with a bang!

Ruth Dugdall and Amanda Hodgkinson, locally-based, but internationally published authors, will tell us about their inspiration, their challenges, and their success with novel writing, chaired by Liz Rastrick, the session will end with a Q and A and book signings.

Cassandra Parkin and Jeanette Hewitt,  internationally published authors, and Kate Sawyer, local author of debut novel  'The Stranding', will tell us about their inspiration, their challenges, and their success with novel writing. Chaired by Liz Rastrick, the session will end with a Q and A and book signings.

Christina Johnston - International Soprano

Christina Johnston, Coloratura  soprano,  will entertain with songs from her vast portfolio  from opera to light classical, to musical theatre.

Divatown featuring Jackie Hole will round off our fabulous evening with rousing versions of up-tempo  classics.
